New Delhi, April 23, 2017 (Zee News): A report released by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), a body that regulates the sales and distribution for drugs in India, declared 60 medicines – including the commonly used Combiflam and D-Cold Total – of substandard quality.

substandard drugThis conclusion was reached after the CDSCO carried out tests last month and found that they failed different quality determining tests.

Citing reasons like ’Description and particulate matter’, ’Dissolution’, ’Misbranded’ and ’Disintegration’, among others, all the 60 common drugs on the list are all labelled "Not of Standard Quality". Some medications are repeated in the list, since issues were found in different batches of the same medicine.

This year’s list includes painkillers, medicines for anti-allergy, fever, cold, loose motion, constipation, as well as calcium and iron supplements, among others. Some of these medicines are manufactured by big brands such as Cipla, Cadila, Sanofi.
