Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also paid tributes to the personnel who lost their life in the attack.

On 14 February 2019, 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed after terrorists targeted a convoy of 78 vehicles, transporting more than 2,500 CRPF personnel from Jammu to Srinagar. The attack, attributed to Pakistan-based and aided terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), was led by an internationally proscribed terrorist, Masood Azhar.

In a retributive strike, the Indian Air Force had bombed suspected terrorist camps in Pakistan’s Balakot.
