Washington, Aug 31, 2016: Officials are investigating after a 4-year-old boy was thrown off a bridge into a river in Washington.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Devonshire Bridge over the Wynochee River in Montesano after bystanders witnessed the boy being thrown off the bridge and called police.

Kaylub Fawley shot the video and posted it to his Facebook page. It has been viewed more than 400,000 times.

“Once he hit the water and he came up, he was just screaming and then the mom comforted him as he swam back,” Fawley told KCPQ in Seattle.

His friend, Brianna Jones, called 911.

“I was scared because at first I thought he was going to smack his head on that lower beam,” Jones said. “I thought he broke his neck because he hit his neck and he had a life jacket on, so he got sucked up really fast. When he came up, he was actually screaming and crying. It broke my heart hearing that.”

The boy survived the fall. It was not immediately known if he suffered any serious injuries.

Deputies interviewed witnesses and the boy’s mother. Deputies said Saturday they’ve recommended the Grays Harbor Prosecutor’s Office charge the boy’s mother with reckless endangerment, and another man with reckless endangerment and criminal trespassing.

All of the charges are misdemeanors, deputies said. Child Protective Services has also been notified of the event.

“I just hope something is done about this. I don’t want this to be waived over,” Fawley said.

“I feel like she needs to go to jail for it or get charged, because you can’t just do that to a kid and let it happen,” Jones said.
