Their husbands were also minors.

The weddings reportedly took place on February 23 in the family of Madan Nath.

After a report in a local newspaper, the police visited the village on Thursday night.

On Friday, the girls’ uncle Kupa Rawal told the Child Welfare Committee in Bhilwara that his bhabhi(sister-in-law) and her brothers had married the girls off secretly.

The Rajasthan State Child Rights Protection Commission and Child welfare committee in Bhilwara wrote to the Bhilwara SP Pradeep Mohan Sharma and SDM Mandal Devi Lal to file FIRs against the people present at the wedding based on the media report.

Kriti Bharti, an activist based in Jodhpur who works for annulment of child marriages, said the police could have registered an FIR under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006 taking suo motu cognizance of the newspaper report.
