16-yr-old kills elder brother after being refused cigarette

New Delhi, Dec 18, 2015: A 16-year-old boy killed his 18-year-old brother after he refused a cigarette to him. The  incident took place in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri area on Wednesday.

murderA report in Times of India said, that the juvenile accused was held a few hours after he battered his brother to death when he went to his house to apologise for his mistake.

The 16-year-old reached home after his tuition on Wednesday around 7 pm and found his brother smoking. He too asked him for a cigarette, however, the elder brother refused.

The younger one then threatened to complain about it to their parents. This led to an argument between the siblings. The younger one then picked up a frying pan and hit his brother on the head several times in a fit of rage.

After seeing his brother bleeding profusely, the boy fled from the house. When the parents reached the house, the found their elder son lying in a pool of blood and the house ransacked. They informed the police that there has a robbery, the report said.

The injured boy was rushed to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. In the meantime, the juvenile returned home to apologise to his brother when he was informed that he had died.

The report said that the 16-year-old told a counsellor that he had reacted in a fit of rage. He broke down before the police while talking about the incident. The boy was produced before Juvenile Justice Board which sent him to a reform home.
