’Eman Ahmed’s weight loss was a lie,’ says her sister

Mumbai, April 25, 2017: In an unexpected turn of events Shaimaa Selim, sister of Eman Ahmed, world’s heaviest woman, weighing around 500 kg, has shot a video saying that her sister is very sick and she is not getting good treatment in Saifee Hospital in Mumbai where she was admitted to undergo bariatric surgery.

 

In the video, which was shot on April 14 inside Mumbai’s Saifee Hospital, Shaimaa has labelled Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, who brought Eman to Mumbai, a liar.

In the video, Shaimaa has accused Dr Muffazal Lakdawala of ’telling lies’ about her sister’s weight loss surgery.  "She does not talk at all. She is not able to move and she looks bluish. No improvement," Shaimaa says in the video.

She then shows the facility where Eman has been kept. Shaimaa says that the hospital doesn’t have a CAT scan machine. Eman’s thrombosis has been treated till now. She says that the hospital promised to escort Eman to the toilet but no such help is being given.

When contacted, Dr Lakdawala in a statement said that Eman will be discharged in a couple of days and described allegations made by Shaimaa as disappointing.

"It’s disappointing to say the least if after all that we have done for Eman this is what we have to deal with all we can say is may god bless Eman. Eman is fit and shall be discharged in the next couple of days. Her obesity related risks have nose dived. Her neurological rehabilitation shall be best managed with intensive physiotherapy that does not need further hospitalisation."

"Only Shaimaa Selim can best explain her reasons of such a dramatic turnaround and views contrary to all the best medical opinions available," the doctor added.

Eman had undergone genetic testing reports of which showed that she has a rare gene defect that was behind her obesity. In fact, Eman is the only person in the world with the defect, report suggested.
