MCA conducts workshop on Hindustani Classical Music in Qatar

Doha, July 5, 2014 : The fifth voice workshop was conducted by Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA), Doha Qatar at the Wyndham Grand Regency Hotel’s Meeting Room recently.

Sandeep Noronha, general secretary, MCA, gave a brief introduction on the activities of the association which is working mainly for the uplift and enhancement of the local talents.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Roshan Martis, noted Hindustani classical musicologist, conducted the workshop on Hindustani classical music.

In the first session, Roshan taught the participants various breathing exercises which would help them to prepare their body and mind before they present their song. Also various sargam exercises to help them enhance their voice and singing quality were taught and practiced.

In the second session, he explained the various techniques and explanations about how to perform to the best of one’s ability. It included stage appearance, presentation of the song, body movements and posture while on stage, holding of the mike and various other important aspects of presenting a song.

Felix Lobo, Advisory Member, MCA, Harry Lobo, Former President, executive committee members and 33 talented Mangalorean Konkani singers residing in Qatar participated in the workshop.

Wilfred Fernandes, advisory member, MCA, welcomed the gathering.
