Konkan Singers Club, Bahrain Celebrates 36th Annual Day

Bahrain, 08 Dec 2013: Konkan Singers Club, one of the reputed clubs in Bahrain, celebrated the Feast of their Patron St. Cecilia and 36th Annual Day on Friday, 6th December 2013 along with Christmas party at the Baan Saeng Thai Restaurant Auditorium, Adliya.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 The function started at 11.45 am with Entertainment Secretary Mr. Leo Fernandes welcoming the members & their families including guests and introducing the compere Mr. Charles D’mello. The annual day celebrations started with a prayer dance by Jovita D’silva. Mr. D’mello then started the Christmas Party for children by welcoming Santa Claus who came along with children and the executive Committee members. Santa then distributed gifts and sweets to members’ children below 12 years of age.

 Mr. D’mello then invited the Executive Committee onto the dais for the cake cutting ceremony followed by the President’s address and General Secretary’s vote of thanks.  This was followed by a Dance session for members and guests who swayed to the tunes of DJ Philip Coelho.

The next section of the celebration was the entertainment which was hosted in Konkani by Mr. D’mello. The entertainment part consisted of Konkani Songs sung by well-known local artists Teena D’souza, Melba Martis, Ronald Fernandes, Christopher Lobo and Melissa Martis. Dances were performed by Eunice D’souza, Jovita D’silva and Ashel Castelino and Konkani skits by Steven D’souza, Alfreeda D’Almeida, Joel D’sa and Ashton Castelino.

 A sumptuous lunch buffet and beverages were served to the members and guests.

On the whole, the function was an event to be remembered and the audience enjoyed every bit of it until the conclusion at 4.15 pm.
