Dubai-based Indian student makes stencil portrait of PM Modi as Republic Day gift

Dubai, Jan 25, 2021:     An Indian student in Dubai made a special portrait of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to present him on Republic Day.

Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan tweeted the picture and also shared details.

WHAT DID THE STUDENT MAKE?

Saran Sasikumar, a 14-year-old boy from Kerala, made a six-layered stencil portrait of PM Modi and handed it over to V Muraleedharan on the concluding day of his three-day visit to the UAE on Thursday. On Twitter, V Muraleedharan shared a picture as he accepted PM Modi’s portrait from Saran and his parents.

WHAT DOES THE PORTRAIT FEATURE?

Saran’s portrait features PM Modi saluting, dressed in a wide-brimmed cavalry hat with the logo of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The portrait measures 90 cm by 60 cm, news agency PTI reports citing an article published in Gulf News.

It took around six hours to draw the picture with layers of six colour shades, Saran said, who has drawn 92 portraits including those of top UAE leaders during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

WHO IS SARAN SASIKUMAR?

Saran Sasikumar is a Class 9 student of the New Indian Model School in Dubai. In October 2020, Saran had also made a five-layered stencil portrait of PM Modi. He received a grandmaster certification from Asia Book of Records and another certificate from India Book of Records for that stencil art portrait, the report said.
