Bradley of Mangalorean origin wins National Scholar award

bradlyOhio, Nov 17: Bradly Ivan D’Souza, the 15-year-old son of Harold and Dancy D’Souza of Bajpe, will be awarded the title of “National Scholar” in Washington DC in March 2011. Bradley has also bagged the President’s Volunteer Service Award presented by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. He has made news in local papers and magazines for the past 2 years.


Bradley has been recognized for community service in a number of fields. He is a volunteer for the Newport Aquarium’s non profit wing, WAVE Foundation. Since March 2010, he volunteered 117 hours as a day captain, supervising a volunteer team of 25 people aged between 14 and 80, fixing their schedules and assignments.


Jenny Yee Greber, CVA, manager of volunteer services at WAVE Foundation, said that Bradley’s smile, his punctuality and attendance, willingness to learn and take initiative, and enthusiasm makes his a great asset at the Newport Aquarium.
