Doha, Jun 3: The Division Governor’s Best President Award for 2010 – 11 in Division E was recently conferred on Christopher Almeida, the president of Konkan Toastmasters Club, at the Toastmasters Annual Convention (QTAC). Almeida is employed as the country IT manager in DHL Express.
Around 350 people, including guests, toastmasters, and dignitaries attended the QTAC. Mark Brown, the 1995 world champion of public speaking, delivered the keynote address. Joyce Alvares represented the Konkan Toastmasters Club and Area 68 in the humorous and international speech contest.
The Konkan Toastmasters Club was also nominated for the Qatar Falcon Awards for Best Club Website, Toastmaster of the Year, and Best Club in Division E. Jovita Pereira, the VP Education of the Club MTM, was nominated by the club for the Toastmaster of the Year Award.
This year, 15 new members joined Konkan Toastmasters and won five awards/ribbons from Toastmasters International. The club holds meetings on the second and fourth Monday of every month from 7:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ghanem Gardens behind Ramada Hotel.
