Band Elysium performs first international live show in Oman

Muscat, April 9, 2011: The Mangalore-based Band Elysius performed its first international live show on the lawns of the Indian Embassy in Al-Khuwair Oman.

Since Mangalorean.com was the official promoter of the event, Mrs. Jaya Ramesh of Mangalorean.com delivered the welcome address. The dignitaries on the dais were H. E. Anil Wadhwa, Shri and Shrimathi Liguory D’Mello of Techno Fit, and the members of the organizing committee. The ambassador was felicitated with fruits, flowers, tender coconut, shawl, and a citation. He then presented a certificate of appreciation to Band Elysium. The organizers presented mementos to each member of Band Elysiusm.


Band Elysium devoted the first hour of their performance to their own composition, after which they presented popular English and Hindi numbers. Popular old and new numbers, semi-classical songs, a few ballads, some modern songs, and plenty of rock formed the basic ingredients of the Band Elysium performance. A typical Mangalorean baila formed the highlight of the event. Sonia D’Souza, who choreographed the dance performances, was later felicitated by the Indian Ambassador.


 

 

 

 


The audience comprised prominent personalities such as H. E. Dr. Richard J. Schmierer, the ambassador of USA; John Clarkson of the protocol economic section of the embassy of USA; H. E. Mehmet Hayri Erol, the ambassador of Turkey; H. E. Mr. Jonghyun Choe, the ambassador of Korea; H. E. Dr. Paolo Dionis, the ambassador of Italy; H. E. Mrs. Angelika Storz-Chakarji, the ambassador of Germany; H. E. Mr. Nurul Alam Chowdury, the ambassador of Bangladesh; Mohammed Norhisyam Mohammed Yusof, the charge de’affaires of Malaysia; H. E. Azim Nasser Zia, the ambassador of Afghanisthan; Abdul Rakeeb Salim, the counselor of the embassy of Afghanisthan; H. E. Mahmoud Khemiri, the ambassador of Tunisia; Rezek Andraus Gaffani Neto, the third secretary of the embassy of Brazil; Hoseung Chang, the counselor of the embassy of the Republic of Korea; Mr. C.D.W. Jayawardana, the counselor of the embassy of the DSR of Shri Lanka; and Ahmed Sabry, the deputy chief of mission of the embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt.


The Indian ambassador was delighted to view the response of his elite audience to the performance of Band Elysium. The audience thoroughly enjoyed themselves and some of them even danced to the music. Later, H. E. Dr. Richard Schmierer, the ambassador of USA, and H. E. Azim Zia, the ambassador of Afghanistan expressed their appreciation of Band Elysium.


Suraj Rebello was the MC of the event, and Chris Amy Vaz expressed her gratitude to H. E. Anil Wadhwa, all the guests, and the audience for their support and encouragement.
