Abu Dhabi, 07 ,March 2012: While elections are going on in some states of India and by-poll elections in some of the states, ISC Abu Dhabi is also planning to hold the annual election for various office bearers for 2012. There are a few posts to be contested but several candidates are already enrolled to contest the election and to run the India Social and Cultural Centre, a stat-of the art building and its various cultural and social activities.
ISC arranged for a candidates meet this Sunday to air their views in front of large members gathered at the main auditorium and to grab voter’s attention.
Prior to their introduction to the members, the chief polling officer Mr. Jayarama Rai, current Hon. Auditor/ Ex President ISC Toast Masters Club, began the proceedings. He began with a few achievements of India and the emerging Indian position in the world. He said: “We, the Indian as well as our association have a unique position in the history of Abu Dhabi. ISC is a replica of India, different languages, customs and traditions and so on. However in culture, values and love and affection to our Nation we are one. ISC Abu Dhabi is the symbol of the status and prestige of India.
As we all know India is shining and emerging economic and military power in the world. Achievements made during the past years were remarkable. So now we need an excellent team to continue and lead the ISC to keep the decorum and welfare of the Indian Community. Let us listen candidates dreams, imagination and action plans.”
The following candidates introduced themselves and for which post they are contesting and steps they will take for the growth of the India Social and Cultural Centre and also ways to help and benefit the Indian Community via various facilities available at the centre.
Mr. Joy Thomas John & Mr. D. Natarajan (for Hon President post), Mr. Eapen Varghese Mammoottil & J. Sarat Chandran Nair (for Hon. Gen. Secretary), Mr. K.R. Abdul Sabah & Mr. Rafeek. P. K. (For Hon. Treasurer), Mr. Joseph George Amicattil & Mr. Saju Ambrose (For Hon. Asst. Entertainment Secretary), Mr. Jayachandran Nair K., Mr. Pandari Vareed Thomas & E. Ramesh (for Hon. Literary Secretary).
A brief question/answer session was held wherein the members asked a few questions as to how to implement the promises the candidates have made and what major changes can be brought to the existing facilities. There are also a few problems which need to be addressed.
Mr. Alok Tuteja, Polling Officer and Hon. Assistant Auditor of ISC thanked each and all candidates and members for attending this ISC election candidates meet and making it successful. The election for the above said post shall be held on 18th of March at the centre.
