May 04, 2021:       If you get to travel the world someday, you will definitely come across at least one Malayali or Keralite in every corner of the globe. If asked to name a few things that these tolerant and polite people have aplenty, it’s banana chips, coconuts, backwaters, Marxists and idioms.

Comedians

A funny video consisting of a collage of famous words and phrases from Kerala has been doing the rounds on the internet. To all the Malayalis, these sounds may seem familiar, as their mother or elders would’ve said this to them at least once in their lifetime. Meanwhile, for the rest, you’ll know just why they are a funny bunch.

The video, which has now gone viral on social media, was made by stand-up comedians Abishek Kumar and Nirmal Pillai. They shared the video on Twitter as well as Instagram.

Wearing the traditional lungi under a T-shirt, the duo narrated various Malayali phrases that one must have come across if they have visited Kerala or have Malayali friends.

“Famous sounds of Kerala Ft. Nirmal Pillai. There’s no way you’ve been to Kerala and not heard this symphony. Tag your Mallu friend below,” Kumar captioned the post on Twitter.

The video received thousands of views and likes since being shared on social media. People appreciated Kumar and Pillai for their accurate depiction of the phrases.

“Love it. Something so comforting about this,” a user wrote in the comments section.

"Welcome to Kerala. Let me show you a short clip representing its linguistic catchphrases. Hope you enjoy your stay," a second user said.
