The actor was at the launch event for a music reality show, Indian Pro Music League, in Mumbai when he was asked about his opinion on the ongoing protest, which has now become an international affair. Salman Khan had this to say:

WHAT DID SALMAN KHAN SAY ON THE FARMERS’ PROTEST?

Salman Khan was talking to a horde of journalists when one of them asked his opinion about the ongoing farmers’ protest. Salman responded to the question saying that “the right thing should be done”. "The right thing should be done. The most correct thing should be done. The most noble thing should be done," the actor said. Prior to this, Salman had neither tweeted nor shared his opinion in relation to the protest on any public domain. None of the other big Khans - Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan or Saif Ali Khan - have shared their opinion on the public domain as of now.

HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?

Since November, thousands of farmers from Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh have been protesting at Delhi borders. Their demands? To rollback three new farm laws - Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. The farmers want these laws to be repealed because they think these will leave them at the mercy of big corporates.

FARMERS’ PROTEST GETS INTERNATIONAL ATTENTION

Farmers’ protest got international attention when renowned pop-singer Rihanna and climate-activist Greta Thunberg tweeted in support of the protest. “Why aren’t we talking about this #FarmersProtest (sic),” Rihanna’s tweet read. Greta Thunberg also showed her support for the ongoing protest with a tweet, which read, “We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India (sic).” These tweets are causing quite a hullaballoo in the nation.

BOLLYWOOD CELEBRITIES SPEAK UP ON FARMERS’ PROTEST

Soon after Rihanna’s tweet on the ongoing farmers’ agitation at Delhi borders, several Bollywood celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Suniel Shetty, Taapsee Pannu and Ali Fazal shared their views on social media. "Farmers constitute an extremely important part of our country. And the efforts being undertaken to resolve their issues are evident. Let’s support an amicable resolution, rather than paying attention to anyone creating differences. Folded hands#IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda (sic),” Akshay Kumar tweeted.

"Don’t fall for any false propaganda against India or Indian policies. Its important to stand united at this hour w/o any infighting #IndiaTogether #IndiaAgainstPropaganda (sic),” Ajay Devgn’s tweet read.

Karan Johar talked about the need for "patience and prudence" at this hour. "We live in turbulent times and the need of the hour is prudence and patience at every turn. Let us together, make every effort we can to find solutions that work for everyone—our farmers are the backbone of India. Let us not let anyone divide us. #IndiaTogether (sic)," he wrote.

Taapsee Pannu tweeted saying that one should not “become propaganda teachers for others.” "If one tweet rattles your unity, one joke rattles your faith or one show rattles your religious belief then it’s you who has to work on strengthening your value system not become ‘propaganda teacher’ for others,” the tweet read.
