Big win for India! RRR’s Naatu Naatu wins first Golden Globes for Best Original Song

New Delhi, Jan 11, 2023: The Golden Globes 2023 is being held in California. The awards show is special for many reasons this year, including the fact that the Indian movie RRR earned two nominations- Best Original song for Naatu Naatu and Best Picture.

In a first for India, the film earned its first Golden Globes for the year in the Best Original Song category for Naatu Naatu. The song was composed by veteran music director MM Keeravaani and penned by Kala Bhairavi and Rahul Sipligunj.

At the awards show, director SS Rajamouli, Ram Charan, and Jr NTR were present along with the crew. MM Keeravaani received the award and thanked the fans globally for all the love. He, however, first took the opportunity to praise SS Rajamouli for his vision. "This award belongs to my brother SS Rajamouli," Keeravaani said, and thanked the filmmaker for his support. He also thanked Prem Rakshit and Kala Bhairava, lyricist Chandra Bose and NTR and Ram Charan ’who danced with full stamina’. He ended by thanking his wife Srivalli.



The Telugu language film has also received a nomination for Best Picture for non-English films. The film collected nearly Rs 1200 crore worldwide.

Naatu Naatu had a tough fight against four other nominees in the list, including Taylor Swift’s Carolina from Where The Crawdads Sing, Ciao Papa from Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Lady Gaga’s Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick’ and Rihanna’s Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Fans cannot keep calm as the film bags its first Golden Globes, paving the way for more Indian films in the future.

For those unaware, RRR was released in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. The film is available on streaming platforms. RRR stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR in lead roles alongside Shriya Saran, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, among others. The film has been receiving a lot of love internationally.

With the Golden Globes win, the eyes are now set on the Academy Awards final nomination list which will be out on January 24, 2023.
