Chandrashekar IPSMangaluru, Jan 20, 2016: An Aerospace  engineer who is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, is now the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner and wants technology to be put to good use in the efficient functioning of his Department. M. Chandrashekhar who recently took charge as the Commissioner is a 1998 batch IPS Officer who joined Police Service  two years after serving IT major Infosys.

As Commissioner of Mangaluru City Police his priorities are  clear. He is strongly in favour of people-friendly policing and promises to put in more efforts in this direction. With a  backing of almost 15 years of experience, Chandrashekhar who hails from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh plans to even make maximum use of the social media to be in touch with the public.

Before joining as Commissioner he served as the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) of Bengaluru City. While being in Himachal Pradesh cadre earlier, he had served as ASP of Shimla and SP of Bilaspur, Mandi  districts. Later, following his absorption into Karnataka cadre in 2013,he has served as SP (Internal Security Division)  and also as DIG of  Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services from 2012 to 2014. Mangaluru has a lot expectations from this Technocrat Commissioner.
