Mangaluru, September 4, 2021: Mumtaz hailing from Mulki is an inspiration to every woman through her achievements. Having the credit of being the first Muslim woman of Karnataka to become a District Judge, it is sheer determination and hard work that has helped her rise to the echelons of success. She was the topper in the judicial exams held this year and is one among the 12 selected to become District Judges.
Hailing from Mulki, Mumtaz had her earlier education at Bharath Matha High School, Punaroor and Pompei College Aikala. She completed her LLB from SDM Law College, Mangaluru and pursued her masters in Mysuru.
Mumtaz began her career as a junior lawyer under former MLC Ivan D’Souza. She was appointed Assistant Public Prosecutor at Bhatkal JMFC Court in 2010 and was subsequently transferred to Udupi. She was later promoted as Assistant Director of Prosecution at the office of the Udupi SP.
Now, the post of District Judge has been a crowning glory to her achievements, making her parents, Abdul Rahiman and Atijamma, her home town as well as her district extremely proud.
