Mangalore, Dec 5, 2012: Music is a passion for this young at heart man who sings with unnerved zeal even at an age when many others may opt to retire in peace. He is known as the Elvis Presley of India and his music has simply captivated the masses. Seventy one year old Albert Jossy Rego is a man bubbling with confidence and enthusiasm and his music band ‘No-Maskara’ is already creating waves.

Albert Jossy RegoHis unique music instrument is ‘Rego Stick’ made out of an empty wooden box, a thread and a hockey stick. He uses it in all his concerts for base sound and it’s simply marvelous.

Rego, an engineering graduate served as a public servant in Kuwait for 33 long years when he even rose to the post of the Director of the Ministry for Electricity and Water Resources in Kuwait. That this strategic post was until then not offered to any foreigner, itself reveals Rego’s efficiency and dexterity. His receiving the highest Civilian Award of Kuwait also speaks volumes of his achievement. He, incidentally is the first Indian to have received this coveted award. Despite his hectic schedule, Rego nurtured his passion for music and used to sing in some music concerts, something he enjoyed right since his childhood. Though he never learnt music under anyone, he mastered it After he  returned to his mother land, he started his own music band No-Maskara” and has been presenting concerts in Bangalore, Mangalore and other places, many of them for charity purposes.

A great humanist, he is well  versed not only in Bible but also Quran and Bhagavad-Gita, and can speak in length about them. Rego is not just a musician, but also an avid sportsperson who was  Western India Boxing Champion at the age of 17

His recent charity concert in aid of HIV patients in Mangalore ‘ Rock Round the Clock’ was a stupendous success.
