Mangaluru, Nov 30, 2019: Treating cancer patients with empathy and great care is the mission of this leading radiation oncologist of Mangaluru and he has already treated 25,000 patients; a rare achievement indeed. Dr Suresh Rao, Director of Mangalore Institute of Oncology and Chief of Radiation Oncology Department is considered one of the finest radiation oncologists of the region.

Dr Suresh who completed his MBBS and MD in Radiation Oncology at KMC, Manipal has the unique distinction of starting three radiation oncology centers in the world; at Salmaniya Medical Complex Bahrain, Father Muller’s Medical College Mangalore  and at MIO which he  founded along with other like-minded oncologists in 2011. He developed his reputation for clinical excellence at various premier cancer centers of Europe and USA.

Dr Suresh also has the credit of being the first first onolcogist to use Linear Accelerator for cancer treatment in Mangaluru. He is one of the few radiation oncologists in India to have specialized in stereotactic ablative radiation therapy, a method that helps eliminate tumors that cannot be removed surgically with minimal side effects and bed rest. Dr Rao is the first doctor to have adopted this therapy in MIO and has succesfully treated several patients.
