Mangalore, Feb 7: Puthige Padmanabha Rai, the sub editor of Udayavani, won the first place for the Dharmasthala Ratnavarma Heggade Award, which is conferred by Tulu Koota Mangalore on the writer of the best Tulu drama, for his work “Marl Ereg.”
The second prize has been bagged by Jnaneshwari S Joshi of Puttur for her work “Nambugeg Imbu”; and the third prize has been won by Catherine Rodrigues of Katpady for her work “Ari Thinde.”
M Ratna Kumar, the vice president of Tulu Koota, said at a press meet that the award will be conferred on the winners on the occasion of “Bisu Parba,” which will be organized by Tulu Koota on April 14.
Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadikari Dr. D Veerendra Heggade is sponsoring this award, which is being conferred on talented playwrights ever since 1976. The first, second, and third prizes include a cash prize of Rs 5000, Rs 3000, and Rs 2,000, respectively. The award also includes mementos and certificates.
