Free tailoring and embroidery course inaugurated

Mangalore, Feb 5: Samanvaya and Maria Jyothi Women’s Association of Shaktinagar Parish are jointly offering a free 9-month course on embroidery and tailoring in honor of the late Fr. Bernard D’Souza. The course was inaugurated in the hall of Shakthinagar Church on Feb 1. 

Dr Ronald Cutinha, the director of Samanvaya, gave a brief introduction to Samanvaya. Dr. Pius Pinto, the managing trustee of Samanvaya, spoke about how the course can benefit students. Praveen Sequeira, the vice president of Shakthinagar parish, also spoke on the occasion. 

Jessy Monis gave the welcome speech; and Ida Sequiera proposed the vote of thanks. The master of ceremonies was Sandra Corda. Irene, the president of the Women’s Association; Dr. Mable D’Souza; and Chandrakala, the tailoring instructress were also present during the inauguration ceremony. 

The organizations plan to initiate similar courses all over the diocese of Mangalore for the benefit of poor women.
