Student power can do wonders: D K Shivakumar

Mangalore, Feb 4: DK Shivakumar, Working President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee has regretted the fact that people lacking leadership qualities were entering the political field.

Speaking after inaugurating the Mangalore University All College Students’ Union at Town Hall in the city on February 4, Thursday, Shivakumar said the nation which has institutions that create doctors, lawyers and teachers, however does not have an institution that creates good leaders.

Urging the students to develop leadership qualities, he said the student power was capable of even achieving the impossible.

He said he was participating in the function not as a politician, but as a supporter for the cause of students, as a former student leader.

Kripa Amar Alva, Advisor, Airport Authority, said the IT industry could witness astounding progress not because of Americans but because of Indian youth. She also called upon the Union to give the female students a chance to get elected to the top post in the Union.

Ivan D’Souza, Congress leader, administered oath to the office bearers of the Union.

Abhayachandra Jain, MLA, Moodbidri, Manjunath Bhandary, Badruddin, Bondala Jagannath Shetty, Arun Coelho, Moideen Bawa,  Congress leaders, Praveen Chandra and  B Ramanath Rai, MLA of  Bantwal and Mithun Rai, President, All College Students Union were present on the occasion.
