Camera man assaulted for by sand-mining goons

Bantwal, Jan 7: Wilfred D’Souza, a TV9 cameraman and his brother Anil D’Souza were attacked by a group, which is believed to be involved with the sand-mining mafia. Reportedly, the duo were attacked with regard to a news story on sand mining recently telecast on TV9. Wilfred D’Souza, who resides in Pervai in Batwal, has been a camera man for 2 years.

Wilfred D’Souza, the camera man who was attacked, reported that he was kidnapped along with his brother Anil D’Souza by a group of men when he was on his way home. They were put in a car and taken to a village called Bakrabail, Kaje, in Manjeshwar. There they were confined and attacked with lethal weapons for telecasting the news story on sand mining. They were confined for a few hours and freed only when the police arrived on the spot in response to a complaint lodged by their colleagues. 

The victims were admitted to a hospital near Manjeshwar immediately after they were rescued. The Manjeshwar Police as well as the DK District Police are conducting some serious investigations into the matter.
