Navarathnarath dedicated to Lord Krishna

Udupi, Dec 25: Paryaya Shree Putthige Mutt Seer Shree Sugunenderateertha Swamiji dedicated the brand new Navarathnarath to Lord Krishna on Friday. 

K S Eshwarappa, the state power minister, inaugurated the Shobhayathra, a colorful procession that commenced from Jodukatte and passed K M Marg and Kanakdas Marg before reaching Car Street. The procession comprised chande groups, yakshagana teams, bajana teams, and Tibetan dance groups.

Paryaya Shree Putthige Mutt Seer Shree Sugunendrateertha Swamiji, Shree Bheemanekatte Mutt Shree Raghumanyateertha Swamiji, Shree Kaniyoor Mutt Seer Vidyavallabhateertha Swamiji were also present during this colorful occasion. 

Sri Dharmasthala Darmadikhari Dr. D Veerendra Hegde presided over the programme. Gowrishankar of Shree Shringeri Mutt; Adikeshavulu Nayadu, the president of the managing trust of Thirupathy Temple; Raja S Rajagopalacharya of Manthralaya Mutt, Bheemeshwara Joshi; Laxminarayana Asranna; and many others were also presented.

The Navarathnarath is the first of its kind in India, made of gem stones set in exquisitely carved gold. About 12 kg gold, 500 kg bronze, 18 kg silver, and 1.25 kg precious gems were used in its construction. The total cost of the chariot is Rs 7 crore.
