Temple elephants run amok

Chikamagalur, Dec 21: A couple of elephants, which were brought out to participate in a religious ceremony, got into a panic when they heard the sound of bursting crackers and started running amok on Sunday, Dec 20. 

Police sources state that the elephants made straight for the crowd that had gathered for the religious programme. 

Fortunately, nobody was hurt; and the mahouts succeeded in bringing the animals back into control.
