MSNM organises Virtual Conference on “Digital Transformation”

Mangaluru, April 4, 2021: Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) organised a one day virtual international conference on “Digital Transformation” on Friday, 26th March at MSNIM campus at Bondel, Mangalore. The objective of the conference was to provide a platform for academicians, research scholars, students and business professionals to share their knowledge, ideas, and findings on Digital Transformation. 42 papers were received and presented both online and offline.

Dr. Gopichand Katragadda, Founder and CEO at Myelin Foundry, Dr Ankitha Shetty, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, MAHE, Dr.  Madanmohan Rao, Research Director, YourStory Media, Dr. Hariprasad Reddy, General Manager (Quality), Wipro and Dr. Randhir Pushpa, Co-founder & Chief consultant, Acies Innovations were the chief resource persons for the conference.

The international conference commenced with the planting of a sapling, followed by lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Ashith B. Hegde, Managing Director of Arkieva, Asia Pacific Region. Manel Annappa Nayak, Vice President, Women’s National Education Society presided. A CD of the conference proceedings was released by the dignitaries.

In his address, the chief guest Ashith Hegde said technology is easy but collaborating people with technology is a big task. “Digital transformation requires the convergence of many things. It is the right blend of good information technology, management motives and process. Understanding the culture and transformation and creating a road map is very important in digital transformation. Every field requires digital transformation in this era. Agriculture, tourism, healthcare and even education require it. Digital transformation cannot happen overnight, it has to happen gradually,” he said, adding that youth should accept this change and must support digital transformation for a better future.

In his presidential remarks, Manel Annappa Nayak said that for any transformation, initially there will be resistance but in the long run, it will be of great use to society. Quoting examples of the banking industry, food apps and oil & gas industry, he said there will be pros and cons in every transformation. “Life has become very easy and convenient with the help of digital transformation. Today’s business process is functioning smoothly because of this. Even rural areas must adopt this. Sufficient infrastructure is needed for reaching remote areas,” he said.

Institute Director Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Sharan Kumar Shetty, Associate Professor, gave a vote of thanks. Ridhvika Shetty, Assistant Professor compered the programme. Dr. Sharan Kumar Shetty, Dr. Rashmi Kodikal, Dr. Ravisha B. and Prof. Ashalatha were the conveners of the conference.
