Zimbabwe cricket star Heath Streak to launch charity initiative in Mangalore

Mangalore, Apr 14, 2012: Heath Streak, the former captain of the Zimbabwe cricket team, is scheduled to arrive at Mangalore with a team of cricket players from Zimbabwe to launch the Heath Streak Foundation on April 29 Sunday.

Joseph Rego, the head of the Heath Streak Foundation, informed reporters at a press conference held on April 14 Saturday at Hotel Gateway that the objectives of the Heath Streak Foundation are to help underprivileged children get education and health care. The foundation enjoys the patronage of prominent Mangalorean citizens such as MLA U. T. Khader, MLA Krishan J. Palemar, and MP Oscar Fernandes. 


Mr. Rego said that the foundation will host its first T20 Internaional Heath Streak Corporation Bank Mothisham T20 Cricket Cup 2012 at NMPT Cricket Stadium on April 20 Sunday at 2:30 p.m.


Players Heath Streak, Raymond Price, Grant Flower, Douglas Merrilier, Terence Duffin, Brendon Taylor, Dirk Viljoen, Charles Coventry, Elton Chigumbura, and others will play against Mangalorean players recruited by DK Cricket Association. 


The match will be based on international T20 cricket rules, but the stadium atmosphere will be packed with fun, music, and live entertainment. The objective of the match is to give talented players a chance and to give the people of Mangalore a taste of international cricket. 


MLA U. T. Khader, Western Institute of Technology MD Stephen Mendes, DK Cricket Association Vice President Dr. Devdas Rai, and others were also present.
