Young man stages protest seeking justice for friend who died in mishap due to pothole

Mangaluru, Aug 12, 2022: On August 11, Thursday, a youth staged a solo protest in front of the MCC office seeking justice for his friend Aatish who lost his life while trying to avoid a pothole near Bikarnakatte Kandettu on August 5. Aatish was riding a bike when the mishap took place. Aatish who noticed the pothole in the last minute tried to avoid it and ultimately  rammed into the divider and lost his life while being rushed to the hospital.

Likhith during his protest seeking justice for his friend, held a poster in his hand which said Mangalore needs Road Suraksha Bandan and freedom from potholes #potholezeazadi.

Likhith is also a classmate of Aatish and expressed deep outrage over the negligence of the authorities in filling potholes. He said a complaint will be filed against NHAI for not maintaining the road and added that he does not want any more lives to be lost due to potholes.

He said on Thursday the pothole where Aatish met with accident has been filled but said it would not last long.

Aatish was a final year civil engineering student and scored distinction in the results which were out on August 10, he said.

MCC Joint Commissioner Ravi Kumar who spoke to Likhith assured to bring the matter to the notice of the Government and NHAI.
