Young house wife attempts suicide with kid; saved by Beach Life Guards

Mangalore, Oct 22, 2013 : A young housewife  hailing from Kudroli in Mangalore, who attempted suicide by jumping into the  sea with her  one year old kid  at Koorikata near Baikampady was rescued by Panambur Beach Life Guards on October 21, Monday. However, they could not save the life of the child.

The woman has been identified as Nadiya (24), wife of Ajmal of Kudroli. She had  tied her child to her waist with a shawl and had jumped into the sea. But children who were  playing nearby had informed the Beach Guards immediately.

The cause of her suicide attempt is not known. She was the wife of Ajmal of Kudroli and has a three year old son too. The  suspicion is that a rift with her husband had driven her to the extreme step.

Panambur police are investigating.
