Mangaluru, Sep 10, 2015: A district wide college bundh call has been given by the All College Students Association on September 19 to pressurise the government to drop the Yettinahole Project.
Speaking to reporters here on September 10, Thursday, Dinaker Shetty, State legal Advisor of the Association said students of all the 95 colleges in the district will participate in the protest to prevail upon the elected representatives of the region to yield to the demands of the people.
Shetty informed that a protest rally will be taken out at 10 am on that day from Ambedkar Circle to DC office. A protest meet will be held later in front of the DC office, he said and added that the people of the district will never forgive two former chief ministers M Veerappa Moily and DV Sadananda Gowda for playing a crucial role in giving a go ahead for the district.
He alleged that the project Rs 13000 crore works have been initiated by flouting all norms. Shetty said the Students Association would extend its full support to the NH Bundh agitation of the Netravathi Nadi Ulisi Horata Samithi on September 15. He even pledged his Association’s support to the Netravathi Samrakshana Samithi which has posed 10 questions to elected representatives of the region. Let the elected representatives resign if they cannot ensure that the project is dropped, he said.
All College Students Association President Rohini, Executive President Prabith Kumar, Samarth Rai, President of Mangaluru Taluk All College Students Association and many other student leaders were present at the press meet.
