Yakshagana Kalaranga Awards conferred on outstanding achievers

 Udupi, Nov 11, 2013 : Outstanding Yakshagana personalities were conferred Yakshagana Kalaranga Awards  at a function held at the Rajangana of Sri Krishna Mutt on November 10, Sunday.

Sri Vishwa Vallabha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Sode Vadiraja Mutt conferred the awards. Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, blessed the occasion.

 Veteran Yakshagana artiste Bannanje Narayana received the Yaksha Chethana Award while the Maha  Ganapathi Yakshagana Kala Mandali of Sagar Beleyooor secured the Sri Vishwesha Theertha Award.

Other awardees are  Dasappa Rai of Puttur, Sudarshan V Shetty Polali, Narayana Poojari,  Renjala Ramakrishna Rao and Nagesh Ganiga.

Udupi MLA  Pramod Madhwaraj released  a souvenir entitled ‘Kalantaranga’ on the occasion. Sudhir Kumar Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Syndicate Bank, Krishnaprasad Adyantaya, Dharmadarshi of Kollur Temple and several others were present.
