
Mangalore, Nov 3, 2013: Good writing skill is a God given gift and writers have to put their talents to good use towards the welfare of the society, said Fr Denis Prabhu, Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese.
He was speaking after inaugurating a Konkani Writers’ Convention organised at Bishop House in Mangalore on November 3, Sunday as part of its platinum jubilee. Continuing, Fr Prabhu was all appreciative of the efforts made by Raknno to be a platform for Konkani writers.








Fr Francis Rodrigues, Editor of Raknno in his address said the platinum jubilee celebrations will conclude on December 15. He said the Raknno Literary Lifetime Award will be presented to an outstanding Konkani writer on the occasion. The Award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000 he said.
Noted Konkani literary personalities Dolphy Cascia, JF D’Souza Attavar, ED Netto and Melwyn Pinto were the resource persons. Vally Vagga, eminent Konkani writer moderated the different sessions.
Writers Ancy Palladka, Wilma Bantwal, Dolphy Saldanha, Irene Castelino and several others were present.
Editors of Konkani journals and writers from DK and other districts participated in the convention. There was also an exhibition of Konkani books and magazines.
