Workshop on ‘Development of Scientific Temper’ inaugurated

Mangalore, Sep 24, 2013: The five-day Karnataka cluster level workshop on ‘Development of Scientific Temper and Demystification of Miracles’ was inaugurated at the ISD Hall here on September 23, Monday by  Dr V.V.N. D’Souza, Assistant Dean, KMC.

The workshop is  organised by the National Council  for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) and Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, in association with district unit of Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat.

Speaking on the occasion, JR Lobo, MLA of Mangalore South  has stressed the need to sensitize the teachers on the  adverse affects of blind beliefs as this would go a long way in educating the people. He also regretted the fact that a large number of people still fall prey to superstitious beliefs.

Prof. Narendra Nayak, President, Federation of Indian Rationalists Association also spoke on the occasion. Dr. Madhav Rao, Kadamajalu Subhash Rai, President, Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat, Renni D’Souza, Treasurer, Anantaram Herala, Secretary  and others were present.

Representatives from 12 districts of the state are participating in the workshop.
