Mangaluru, Nov 24, 2025: Marking Anti-Rape Day, observed on the anniversary of the Delhi Nirbhaya incident, a women’s justice convention and rally titled “Kondavaru Yaru” (Who Are the Killers?) will be held in Belthangady on December 16.

At a press conference held at the Press Club on Monday, social worker Prasanna Ravi said the programme is being organised to demand a thorough SIT investigation into the sexual assault and murder of women in Dharmasthala, and to ensure punishment for the culprits.

She said the Kondavaru Yaru campaign began in August with the aim of standing in solidarity with the families affected by the Dharmasthala cases. Women’s groups have been observing Anti-Rape Day for the past 13 years.

Campaign member Mallige said women’s organisations have been fighting for women’s rights for four decades and have met the complainants and families affected by the Dharmasthala incidents. The SIT investigation must be comprehensive, covering all related issues, not just the alleged mass burial case, she said. The campaign insists that the probe should focus on securing justice for women and innocent victims, and not be clouded by religious or political considerations.

Another member, Jyothi, said complainants and witnesses in the Dharmasthala cases are being threatened, and called for a fair and sincere SIT probe. A women’s delegation has already met the Chief Minister, who has assured them of an impartial investigation, she added.

Farmer leader Anasuyamma Aralalusandra, artist and writer Geetha Surathkal, activists Shashikala, Sunitha Lambani, and Bhagyajyothi were among those present at the press meet.
