Woman duped of over Rs 64 lakh on pretext of marriage in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, August 27, 2023: About a year ago in Mangaluru, a divorced woman created a profile on a Muslim Matrimonial app following her brothers’ insistence that she should consider remarriage. Before long, she received a request from Mohammed Farid Sheikh, who hails from Tamil Nadu.

After Mohammed proposed marriage to her, the woman, along with her brothers, arranged to meet him at a local restaurant.

Allegedly, Mohammed never disclosed his previous marriage to the woman. He assured her that he would inform his family about their wedding plans.

Mohammed shared with her that there was an offer from MNC company to purchase his app ’Zooky’ for approximately 25 crore rupees. Initially, he requested a processing fee of 4 lakh rupees. He promised to refund the money once the payment was received.

Over time, she transferred a total of 64 lakh rupees to Mohammed in several installments. When Mohammed declined to return the money, she decided to take legal action and filed a complaint.
