Woman dies in road accident in Mukka

Mangalore, Oct 9, 2012: A woman died in an accident on NH66 on Oct 8, Monday. The deceased is Janet D’Souza (32) of Chelyar, a teacher at Holy Spirit School in Mukka.

Janet was riding pillion with her husband Anthony when a cement-laden truck hit them from behind. Both husband and wife were thrown off the road. While Janet died on the spot, Anthony, who landed on the left side of the road, escaped with minor injuries. He is currently recovering in a hospital in Mangalore.

Janet has left behind her husband, who has a tailoring shop in Chelyar, and two daughters.

 

The lorry driver tried to escape, but the Suratkal police succeeded in arresting him.
