Woman detained for smuggling 2 kg gold at Mangalore airport

Mangalore, July 20, 2013: A woman was detained at the Mangalore International Airport after she was found smuggling as much as 2 kg of gold. The woman had arrived by an Air India Express flight from Dubai along with her husband and child.

Acting on an Intelligence tip off, the DRI sleuths at the airport intercepted the family when the gold smuggling was detected. Two gold biscuits and a few chains were found hidden in the undergarments worn by the woman.This is the first instance wherein a woman was caught smuggling gold at the airport. All the three have been detained for questioning.

Investigations are underway.
