Woman arrested for gold chain theft at Kollur Temple

Kollur, Sep 29, 2025: Kollur police have successfully solved a gold chain theft case within 24 hours at the famous Kollur Mookambika Temple and arrested a woman accused of the crime.

The arrested has been identified as Yadava Durgamma of Ganesh Nagar, Rangareddy district, Telangana. Police recovered the stolen gold chain, worth Rs 2.5 lakh, from her possession.

On the night of September 26, around 9 p.m., a gold chain weighing three sovereigns and valued at Rs 2.5 lakh was stolen from the bag of a devotee, Devipriya, inside the temple premises. A case was registered at Kollur police station.

Following the complaint, a team led by Sub-Inspector Vinay M. Korlahalli launched a swift investigation using CCTV footage and technical support, leading to the arrest of the accused.

The operation was carried out with the assistance of Kollur Police Sub-Inspector Sudharani T. and staff members Ram Poojary, Nagendra, Suresh, Narasimha, Raghavendra, Vasanthi, and Santosh.
