Woman Ends Life After Fiancé’s Death in Kasaragod

Kasaragod, May 11, 2026: A 26-year-old woman was found hanging at her residence in Kidoor near Kumbla on Sunday, reportedly unable to cope with the recent death of her fiancé in a road accident.

The deceased has been identified as Prafulla (26), daughter of B Jayanandan of Kundankeradukka in Kidoor. She was engaged to Mani (30), a native of Tamil Nadu.

According to relatives, Mani had sustained serious injuries in a motorcycle accident a few days ago and died while undergoing treatment. Family members said Prafulla had been under severe emotional distress following his death.

Police suspect that she ended her life between 11 am and 3 pm on Sunday when other family members had gone to attend a relative’s wedding.

Kumbla Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation. A note believed to have been written by Prafulla was also recovered, in which she reportedly expressed a wish to be laid to rest at the same place where Mani was buried.

Relatives said both families would discuss the matter before taking a decision regarding the funeral. The body will be handed over to the family after postmortem examination at Kasaragod General Hospital.
