Woman Drowns During Trek Near Hosangadi in Kundapur

Kundapur, March 1, 2026: A 53-year-old woman drowned in a river near Hosangadi Bhāgimane while on a trekking trip on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The deceased has been identified as Shubhashree Karanth (53), who was running a medical shop in Kundapur.

According to sources, a group of 8–10 persons from Kundapur had gone trekking towards Metkal Gudda in Hosangadi when the incident occurred. She is said to have accidentally slipped into the river and drowned.

The body was shifted to the Government Hospital in Kundapur for further procedures.

Personnel from Amasebail Police Station visited the spot and gathered information. Further details are awaited.
