Woman Arrested in Mangaluru for Blackmail Using Obscene Videos

Mangaluru, Oct 19, 2025: The Mangaluru police have arrested a young woman accused of blackmailing victims using videos of women changing clothes. The accused, identified as Nireeksha, a native of Chikkamagaluru, had been living in a rented house in Kankanady, Mangaluru. She was taken into custody on Sunday following a complaint lodged at the Kadri Police Station.

According to police sources, Nireeksha allegedly recorded videos of young women in compromising situations and used them to extort money. Her name had previously surfaced in connection with the honey trap allegations linked to the Nitte Abhishek Acharya suicide case.

Abhishek Acharya, who recently died by suicide in Belman, had reportedly mentioned Nireeksha and a few others in his death note, accusing them of harassment. The revelations had triggered widespread outrage on social media, with users demanding her immediate arrest.

Police produced Nireeksha before a magistrate on Sunday, who remanded her to 14 days of judicial custody. Further investigation is underway to determine her involvement in the blackmail and honey trap cases, officials said.
