Puttur, Mar 7, 2014 : Senior Congress leader B Janardhan Poojari has declared that he would not allow the implementation of the Yettinahole Project as long as he lives.
Speaking to reporters at Puttur on March 6, Thursday, Poojari said there were various other options to supply drinking water to people of Kolar, Chikkaballapur and other districts and that there was no need to divert Netravathi river for the purpose. The people of the coastal districts are never agreeable to this, Poojari asserted.
Continuing, he said the unanimous voice raised by people of the district against the project, is a warning bell to those hell bent upon implementing the project.
Commenting on the Party Primaries, he said it was a good development wherein party workers have been given a right to choose their candidate. Internal elections will not lead to factionalism, he said and added the party workers will work unitedly for the victory of the party in the Lok Sabha election whoever is the candidate. “ No one is against anyone within the party. Our opponents are BJP and JD(S), he said.
Hemanath Shetty, Puttur Block Congress President, Opposition leader of TMC Mohammad Ali, Town Congress President Lancy Mascarenhas and others were present.
