Wild Elephant Causes Hour-Long Traffic Jam on Charmadi Ghat Road

Belthangady, May 11, 2026: Traffic on the Charmadi Ghat Road was disrupted for more than an hour on Monday after a lone wild elephant appeared on the highway.

The tusker was spotted near the 10th curve of the ghat section on Monday morning. The elephant reportedly stood in the middle of the road for over an hour, resulting in heavy traffic congestion on both sides.

Several vehicles were stranded in long queues, causing inconvenience to commuters travelling through the stretch. The elephant later moved back into the forest, following which traffic resumed normally.
