Wife confesses to killing husband with daughter’s help

Mangalore, Mar 9, 2012: Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said at a press conference held in his office today that Chandravathi, the wife of R. Ashok, who has been missing from Dec 7, 2010, had confessed that she had murdered her husband with her daughter’s help. 


On police interrogation, Chandravathi confessed that she used a grinding stone to smash her husband’s head, after which she burned his mortal remains in an old toilet in their house. She also confessed that she crushed the rest of his bones and buried them behind the house. Chandravathi alleged that she killed her husband for his lack of concern for the family.

The police found some of R. Ashok’s remains in the vicinity of the house and sent them in for DNA testing to confirm that they really belong to R. Ashok. 


The police also arrested Ashwini (22) for helping her mother to murder her father. 


The Moodubidri police were investigating the missing person case, as per a complaint lodged by Chandravathi. The commissioner expressed his appreciation of the team.
