Mangaluru, May 01, 2020: Nitte (Deemed to be University) Youth Red Cross Unit organized a webinar on Safe management of COVID-19 dead body on 1st of May 2020 at 11 am in the Board room of the University.
The Key note address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Sateesh kumar Bhandary the Honourable Vice Chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University).In his opening remarks he emphasized that the Corona Virus pandemic has changed the lives of the people and empowering the people with knowledge will help us to fight the COVID-19 pandemic .
The resource person Dr.Iddya Karunasagar, Senior Director (International Relations) Nitte (Deemed to be University) discussed on the various aspects of virology and the ways to prevent the COVID-19 infection. Dr.Mahabalesh Shetty Prof and HOD Dept of Forensic Medicine, K.S.Hegde Charitable Hospital elaborated on the Medicolegal aspects in safe handling of COVID-19 dead body. The chairman of the Dakshina Kannada district Youth Red cross committee C.A.Shantaram Shetty enlightened the role of public and the need for such awareness programmes through his video message. The participants clarified their doubts with the experts through the video calling facility. The video on safe management of COVID-19 dead body compiled by the Justice.K.S.Hegde Charitable Hospital was displayed to the public on this occasion. The session was concluded with the take home message from the Chief Panelist Prof. Dr. Sateesh kumar Bhandary that awareness about corona virus is the need of the hour and he appealed the public not to be petrified but to go forward with precautions and to share knowledge with others. The programme was coordinated by the Youth Red Cross nodal officer and the program officers of all the constituent colleges of Nitte (Deemed to be University).
