He also revealed that he was attacked by someone called Sharan in the jail premises at 9:45 a.m. today and that the superintendent has not taken any action against the accused although the matter was reported to him. Sharan is in jail because of his involvement in the murder case of Prof. A. S. Ramakrishna, the administrative officer of KVG Medical College Sullia. Instead, he was once again put in the same situation although he repeatedly said that there are weapons in the Mangalore District Jail.

Rasheed Malabari of Kerala, who was earlier known as Rasheed Malabar, was assigned the job of eliminating both Pramod Muthalik as well as Varun Gandhi because it was generally felt that the two had become threats to India’s Muslim community.

Rashid Malabari became notorious in September 2000 when he fired at his rival gangster Rajendra Nikalke alias  hota Rajan in Bangkok, injuring him seriously. Four years later, Malabari killed Rajan’s second-in-command Balu Dokre in Malaysia. Malabari is also believed to have been assigned the tasks of eliminating encounter specialists Daya Nayak and Vijay Salaskar. He committed his first murder in 1996 when he and Mastan shot Vilas, an associate of Mohan Kotiyan.

Malabari became active after Raja Gore, an assassin in Chhota Rajan’s group, killed Ismail, Malabari’s elder brother outside Vikhroli Court in 2007. Shortly thereafter, Malabari fled India and launched his operations in Bangkok and Karachi. The local police with the help of the state police and police intelligence nabbed him in March 2009.
