Mangalore, March 14, 2013 : Present day education concentrates on high achievers. Happiness and Peace in the society can be attained only when the society aims at producing men of character and not just academic achievers, said Ashit Mohan Prasad, ADGP (Crime and Technical Services).
He was speaking after inaugurating a two day UGC sponsored National Level Conference on ‘Psychology for Enhancing Happiness, Harmony and Peace’ at St Agnes conference Hall on March 14, Thursday. The conference has been organised by the Department of Psychology of the College in association with Internal Yoga Satsanga.
Societal values can prosper when maximum welfare of the maximum people is ensured, Prasad further added. Police personnel can act as facilitators of change to help build a society of peace and harmony, Prasad further said.
Dr BM Hegde, former vice chancellor of Manipal University, delivered the key-note address.
Sessions on various relevant topics like ‘Science of Happiness-An Indian Perspective,” and ‘Role of Family in Enhancing Harmony and Peace” will be held during the course of the two-day conference. Dr Kiran Rao, Consultant in Mental Health and Human Development Dr Kiran Rao, is the moderator of the sessions.
