Voters must vote for their right: B. V. Prakash

Mangalore, Jan 25, 2014: Voters are indirectly responsible for the increasing number of corruption in the country, said B. V. Prakash, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Dakshina Kannada.


He was speaking after inaugurating the national voters’ day, held at Town hall on Jan 25, Saturday, jointly organized by District Election officer’s office and District Administration.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that, during the polling, the voters fall as prey to various inducement and later suffer for the term of five years. Instead of it, the voters must cast their vote to the eligible candidate and help to have a non corrupt government, he said.


Speaking as the chief speaker, Prof Narayana Bhandary, HOD, Political Science of SVS College said that we must cast our vote for our right. In 1952, there were 17.1 million voters in our country, but now it has reached to 750 million.


In the coming Lok Sabha election, there is 40 crore new voters. Hence there is necessary to select the right candidate for the future of the country, he said.
