Vittala Malekudiya approaches High Court for bail

Mangalore, June 7, 2012 : Vittala Malekudiya, a student of mass communication and journalism in Mangalore University, who was arrested for alleged association with Naxals, has appealed to the High Court for bail and withdrawal of the first information report (FIR) filed against him.

 

vittal Justice Subhash B. Adi heard the mater and directed the state government to file objections.

The Anti Naxal Force (ANF) arrested Vittala and his father Lingappa Malekudiya on March 3, 2012.

Vittala was arrested because he allegedly possessed Naxal literature and was booked under Section 10 and Section 13 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Section 121 of the IPC. The local court refused to grant him bail, but permitted him to answer his semester exams under tight police security.
